ADVANTAGES OF NON-CONVENTIONAL MACHINING OVER CONVENTIONAL MACHINING METHODS

1. Any electrically conductive material can be machined regardless of its hardness.
2. Machining can be done in the hardened state itself. Any complicated shape can be given in the workpiece
3. The workpiece will not be subjected to distortion or stress, since the tool (electrode) never comes in contact with the workpiece
4. Machining can be done on thin and fragile workpieces also.
5. These processes are burr-free.
6. Secondary finishing operations are generally eliminated. Broken taps and drills can be removed easily without damaging expensive workpieces.
